Paul was a loving and caring father and husband. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky; and, was proceeded in death by his father Paul Franklin Burgess, his mother Bernice Burgess, and his sister Sarah Kathyrn Wilson. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce and son, Justin; two sisters, Teresa Lowery and Georgia Hatton both of Lexington, Kentucky, and one sister-in-law Ella Dean Chapman. Also a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins located in Kentucky, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi.
Paul played drums and sang with two gospel groups: His Witnesses and Beams of Light Gospel Singers.
He also loved the outdoors and would go fishing on occasion.
Some personal thoughts from Justin are:
"He always would go up to anyone he knew and stop to chat with them or say hello and was never shy around strangers. He had a very good memory and could tell you anything about history. He loved television about wild animals and would watch movies with his family. He left a good impression on everyone he met. He would tell jokes about moments in his life. He always had fun with his sisters and tattled tell on them. On occasion when I went into his room I would find him reading the Bible. Every Tuesday he would take me out to eat. Just about everyday when he came in from work he would talk to his sister Georgia. He was a lover of music of all types. His sisters were very protective, as he was their only brother. His wife loved his soft warm hands and his ability to remember important dates."
