

Wylie Theodore "Ted" Bishop, Jr., age 65, of Midland, NC, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews. He was born in Charlotte to the late Wylie and Joyce Riddle Bishop on July 4, 1947.
His family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 3, 2012, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Patrick Hoare will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery, with military honors.
Ted graduated from South Mecklenburg High School, and attended Lenoir Community College in Kinston, NC, to study aviation and obtain a private pilot’s license. He worked as a welder for Teledyne Allvac in Monroe, and then later worked for the US Postal Service as a mail handler at the general mail facility in Charlotte. He proudly served in the US Marine Corp, and was a Vietnam War veteran. He received several medals for his service.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Patricia Wall Bishop; daughters, Lisa Bishop (husband, Zeke Roseboro), and Stephanie Kristen Bishop; brother, Michael Bishop; sisters, Sandra Johnson (Bruce), and Cathy Perry (Rick); beloved grandchildren, Cameron, Kendall, and Alexis; and four nieces.
Ted loved his family and particularly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He had a strong work ethic and found fulfillment through his work. Ted enjoyed being outdoors, bowling, golf, and fishing, until his health began to decline. He had a lifelong love of animals, and always enjoyed the company of his pets.
