It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Burton "Burt" Salinger on November 25, 2025. Burt was born on October 28, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY. His family relocated to sunny Los Angeles in 1948, and he has been a resident of Sherman Oaks since the 1970’s. Burt is survived by his devoted wife Michelle, his son David and daughter Deborah, and many wonderful nieces and nephews who adored him. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Kate, his sister Phyllis, and his first wife Corinne.
A man of boundless curiosity and refined interests, he found joy in the quiet beauty of sailboats, the vastness of the night sky, and the art of photography. Professionally, he was a highly respected real estate appraisal expert. His knowledge and integrity made him a trusted instructor to many in the field, and he served as an expert witness in court, earning the admiration of colleagues and students alike.
At home, Burt shared his warmth through cooking. His legendary red velvet cake was a family favorite, and his expertly crafted martinis were a signature of his hospitality. Married and in love for almost 55 years, Burt and Michelle enjoyed an exciting life partaking in many adventures, which included numerous cruises and a special connection to Cannes. Burt lived a life rich with passion, precision, humor, and heart. His legacy will continue in the stories told, the lessons shared, and the love he gave so generously. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 11 am at Eden Memorial Park (11500 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills, CA 91345). Please leave below memories that you have of Burt.
