

El Segundo resident Harry P. Winston passed away in Torrance, California on September 28, 2018. Born in Los Angeles in 1948, Harry was raised in Westchester, California, where he graduated from Westchester High School in 1966.
In 1968, Harry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and served in South Vietnam during 1969, assigned to the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion. In 1970, he joined the Los Angeles Police Department and served as a police officer for 33-1/2 years before retiring as a motorcycle officer assigned to the West Traffic Division. During Operation Desert Storm, Harry was recalled to active duty with the Marine Corps and served as a Military Police Officer at the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, in Oceanside, CA. Harry had a passion for 4-wheeling, building hot rods, restoring classic cars, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and was an avid fan of NASCAR racing.
Harry was well-known and respected throughout the South Bay where he was friend to many. Harry was preceded in death by his mother and father, Carl and Frances Winston, and his sister, Muriel. He is survived by his life partner of 28 years, Laura Lydia Worden, his sons Craig, Aaron and Wayne Winston, stepson, Christopher Worden, grandson, Christopher Worden Jr. and his sister, Helen Winston. Services will be held in the Eternal Light Chapel at Groman Eden Memorial Park, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd, Mission Hills, CA 91345, October 8, 2018 - 1:00 PM.
