Betty Jo Burgin Helms, 81, of Waxhaw, North Carolina passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Friday, March 3, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Mecklenburg County on October 1, 1941. During her illness, Betty was lovingly cared for by the staff at Hospice of Union County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Edith Burgin and two younger brothers, Ronnie and Eddie Burgin. She leaves her husband of 63 years, Thomas E. Helms Sr., daughter, Wanda Helms Grose (Chris), son, Thomas E. Helms Jr. (Allison), granddaughter, Lindsey Paige Helms and step-grandson, Kenneth Griffin (Betsy). At her request, there will be no services.
