

She was born in Asheboro, Randolph County, NC on November 3, 1941, daughter of the late Frank Houston & Shirley Reid Miller McCorkle. She married the love of her life, the late Roy Crayton “Butch” Tysinger, Jr. on August 21, 1960 and spent 56 wonderful years together until his death in 2016. Mrs. Tysinger retired from the engineering department of Alltel Corp. in 2004 after 28 years of dedicated service. After her retirement, she was employed by CVS until her health failed in 2020. Mrs. Tysinger was a life-long member of Bonds Grove UMC (now Bonds Grove Campus of Weddington UMC). Betty was blessed with culinary talents and a passion for cooking her favorite recipes for her co-workers, family, church family, and friends. She also enjoyed scheduling reunions and get-togethers for her Waxhaw High School graduation class of 1960. Betty never met a stranger and will be missed by many but remembered for her wit, her culinary talent and her generous spirit.
Mrs. Tysinger was predeceased by her beloved husband, parents, and sister, Ann M. Wilkinson. She is survived by her loving daughter, Christi Tysinger Tarlton and one granddaughter, Tori Marie Tarlton, who stole her heart the day she was born. She is also survived by a brother, Larry McCorkle and wife Judy of Amelia Island, FL; sister, Sandra McCorkle of Waxhaw; sister-in-law, Beverly Haywood and husband, Larry of Waxhaw and brother-in-law, Darrell Tysinger and wife, Cindy of Monroe. She also leaves nephews, nieces and cousins whom she loved very much.
