Born in Charlotte, NC, Esther—affectionately known as “Miss Esther”—was the daughter of the late Orman Bartlett Kisiah and Mary Etta Simpson Kisiah. She lived a long, fulfilling, and meaningful life. Esther often said she was blessed in more ways than she could count, especially with the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Edwards, always by her side. Together, they faced life’s challenges hand in hand and created a home filled with warmth, faith, and compassion. Chuck and Esther extended their love far beyond their immediate family, welcoming anyone in need with open arms. While they were proud parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents, they also “adopted” many others over the years—people who became family not by blood, but by heart. Once you were welcomed by them, you were family for life.
Grief is the price we pay for love and Miss Esther carries with her the love of all who knew her!
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Jean Herd of Titusville, FL; her grandchildren, Michelle Wolf and husband Erik of Monroe, NC, and Jason Dickerson of Titusville, FL; and her great-grandchildren, Makayla Dickerson, Devin Dickerson, Lillian Dickerson, Brendan Wolf, Grayson Wolf, Dillon Wolf, Alora Wolf, and Hannah Grace Beaver. She is also survived by her adopted daughter, Diann Riddle-Farley.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles “Chuck” Edwards; her son, Donald “Clark” Edwards; her grandson, David Dickerson; her siblings, William “Billy” Kisiah, Annie Boyd, Evelyn Cauthen, Ray Kisiah, and David Kisiah; and her son-in-law, Douglas Herd.
