

Monroe, NC - Henry Glenn Campbell passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16th, 2013 at home surrounded by his family and loved ones under the care of Hospice. Mr. Campbell was born on April 15th, 1925 in London, Ontario Canada to the late Duncan and Katherine Campbell. Mr. Campbell was a veteran of the Canadian Navy, serving in World War II. In 1965 Mr. Campbell and his wife, Veda, moved to Monroe, North Carolina where he was employed by Teledyne Allvac in the Rolling Mill until his retirement in 1987.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Veda Campbell of Monroe, son John Campbell of Charlotte and son Paul Campbell, his wife Lori of Albemarle and grandchildren Ryan Campbell, Mabe Campbell and Addie Campbell. In addition, Mr. Campbell is survived by his brother, Lloyd Campbell of St. Thomas, Ontario and his sister-in-law, Olive Murphy of Burlington, Ontario.
Mr. Campbell enjoyed life and especially his passion of woodworking. He created numerous beautiful scroll saw designs and enjoyed entering them in competitions at the Ellen Fitzgerald Senior Center in Monroe. Mr. Campbell also enjoyed gardening and took pride in his garden and we all enjoyed the fruits of his labor. The maple tree seedlings he brought home from Canada are now beautiful trees surrounding their home. Mr. Campbell and his wife, Veda also looked forward to competing in the annual Union County Senior Games where they took home many first place ribbons. Mr. Campbell and wife, Veda were very active in the Union County Meals on Wheels program and Hospice and were privileged to be able to help those less fortunate than themselves. He served many years as part of the Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Campbell was also active in the Boy Scouts and coached Little League Baseball for several years.
The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation on Tuesday, November 19th, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home in Monroe. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Campbell will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 20th, 2013 in the McEwen Colonial Chapel, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Union County, Mr. Carmel United Methodist Church and Hebron United Methodist Church.
