

Holmes Morris, age 91, of Matthews, passed away on March 3, 2015. He was born in Union County on July 2, 1923 to the late Pattie Price Morris and Holmes Morris. He graduated from Wesley Chapel High School with honors. Holmes was married to Roberta Lemmond for 48 years. He retired from Westinghouse as a QC Inspector in the Nuclear Turbine Division, was a lifetime member and elder of Siler Presbyterian Church where he also taught Sunday school and served as Sunday School Superintendent. Mr. Morris was a member of the Siler Quartet for many years. He loved to play golf, was a master carpenter and mechanic, a certified welder and a wonderful father.
Holmes was preceded in death by his wife Roberta Lemmond Morris and his sister, Elizabeth Morris Byrum. He is survived by his two daughters, Tana Morris Boggs and husband Wendell and Cheryl Morris Hartis and husband Jeffrey L. Hartis; his son, Bryan S. Morris and wife Peggy Pait Morris; four grandchildren, M.E. Boggs Sanders, Dan W. Rogers, Maria Morris Trombley and Taylor Morris Mullinax; three great-grandchildren, Kirsten Rogers, Darren Rogers and Jacie Trombley; and two special nieces, Kay Byrum McLeod and Patsy Byrum Baker.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Siler Presbyterian Church from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
