I just found out that my dear friend John had passed away. I have not been able to contact since Mid-March. John touched thousands of people in a positive way over his life, whether it was loving and respecting his parents and grandparents, to the downhearted fellow patients in a nursing home and all he met in between. His family and his acts of kindness were certainly great. (James chapter 2 verses 13 to 17). John might have been needing to be in full time care for his body, but his mind was brilliant! I have been visiting with both John and Joanne, ( who must be feeling loss even greater than all of us), and studying the Bible with him for the past 5 years right after they were married. He learned with great humility yet always remembering everything learned. Study was not his shortfall, in fact I don’t think he had a shortfall really. He would always share a special experience out of his life, sometimes he would bring me back to his childhood, sometimes they were from yesterday and how much he loved Joanne, and her purity. He always knew what he shared before, what was relevant to the days lesson and just the right amount to share, always putting others above himself.( Matthew chapter 22, verses 35 to 39) The thousands and I , will miss John Hunter Secrest for now, but learn from His example he set always. The picture depicts John when he ran the garden at the nursing home. It was not hard for John to see Gods purpose for Humans, (Genesis chapter 1 verses 27 to 29)
