

He was born May 7, 1933 in Union County, NC, the son of the late Mr. Lloyd Thomas Wallace, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mae Helms Wallace. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter: Catherine Joanna Wallace.
Lloyd was last employed by Rountree Plantation Garden Center. He never said he “worked” there; he only said he was “employed” there. To him, it wasn’t work, he enjoyed being there.
He was a part of the last graduating class of Sharon High School in 1950. Mr. Wallace served active duty in the U.S. Army Signal Corp from 1953 until 1955 obtaining the rank of Corporal.
Mr. Wallace is survived by his wife of 63 years: Carol Simmons Wallace; one daughter: Christy; one son: Robert; one “favorite granddaughter”: Joanna; two grandsons: Alex and David.
The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation Tuesday July 5, 2016 from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. Graveside funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Wallace will be immediately following at Lakeland Memorial Park, with burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Novant Health Hospice, 324 North McDowell Street, Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28204.
