Loretta M. Browning

Mrs. Browning was born in Groton, CT in 1946 to the late, Velter and Mildred Mungo. Mrs. Browning retired from the Union County Sheriff’s Office in March of 1999 where she served as the secretary of the Detective Bureau. Prior to that, she was a substitute teacher where she could be found working the classrooms at Parkwood Middle School.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard, and Jerry Mungo.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Henry Browning and two children, Becky Browning of Rock Hill, SC and Richard Browning of Monroe, NC. She also leaves behind her best friend of nearly 50 years, Marsha Hancock and her beloved cat, Sunshine.

The family will receive friends from on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm at McEwen Funeral Home located at 204 S. Main St. Monroe, NC with the funeral following at 2:00 pm. Dr. Mike Whitson will be officiating. Burial will take place immediately after the funeral at Lakeland Memorial Park.
