Mrs. Margarette P. Connell, 83, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe. Mrs. Connell was born July 20, 1930 in Union County, daughter of the late Claude E. and Bertha Preslar Pressley, she was also preceded in death by her husband; Clyde Connell, her daughter; Susan Connell Day, two sisters; Pauline Hinde and Pat McManus. Visitation will be Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, beginning at 9:30 until 11:00 AM with services to celebrate the life of Margarette at 11:00 AM in the Church Sanctuary with Reverend Clyde Hawkins and Reverend Eddie Powers officiating, interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Survivors include a step-son: Richard Connell and wife Reba of Wilmington N.C., one brother: Clayton E. Pressley and wife Barbara of Monroe, two sisters: Christine Courtney and husband Paul of Erwin Tn., Nancy Riggins of Monroe, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. McEwen Funeral and Cremation Service of Monroe is serving the family of Mrs. Connell.
