Matthew Comer

Matthew “Matt” Comer of Waxhaw was a loving son, brother, nephew, friend, uncle, husband, father, and burger enthusiast. He left this world for his next adventure on February 11, 2022, at the age of 42.

Matt was born to Cam and Betty Jo Comer on January 17, 1980. A lifelong passion for art led him to pursue a degree in Graphic Design from South Piedmont Community College. He went on to be employed by Digital Designs, Inc., Snap A/V, and most recently LPL Financial. Creating things of function and beauty was a trademark of his designs.

Matt met his wife Cindy in 2012 and devoted the next ten years to making her the happiest woman on Earth. Matt was a doting Daddy to Sophie and Jasper. He considered them to be his proudest accomplishments and very best work. He will always be remembered for his Sunday morning scrambled eggs, Daddy dance parties, nightly monster checks, movie night snuggles, questionable “Dad Jokes”, and amazing hugs.

Matt is mourned by his wife, Cindy; children, Sophie and Jasper; parents, Cam and Betty Jo; sister, Tracie (Rick); niece, Alyssa; uncle, Ervin; aunt, Helen (Kenneth); cousin Amanda (Ashbey); honorary nephew, Silas; in-laws, Greg and Annette; brother-in-law, Darrell; his ornery, but loving cat, Feeny; and too many dear friends to list.

At Matt’s request, there will be no funeral service or memorial. Please feel free to send a favorite photo or memory of Matt for his children to read when they are older. In lieu of flowers, a trust (savings account) has been set up for Sophie and Jasper.
