Mr. Nelson Eugene Edwards

He was born September 16, 1938 in Chesterfield County, S.C., a son of the late Mr. William Oliver Edwards and the late Mrs. Arlie Mae Wallace Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife; Mrs. Mabel Lee Burgess Edwards on October 24, 2006.

He was also preceded in death by (two) brothers, Billy Joe Edwards and Arthur Edwards.

Mr. Edwards is survived by (two) sons, Robert Edwards & wife Patricia and John Barry Edwards & wife Victoria Anne all of Monroe, (3) Grandchildren, Dustin James Sullivan, Daniel Jesse Sullivan and Ella Mae Edwards all of Monroe.

The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation (tonight, Friday, September 6, 2013), from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at McEwen Funeral Home in Monroe.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of “Gene” Edwards will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday morning, September 7, 2013, at Altan Presbyterian Church, conducted by Mr. Russell Floyd, with burial to follow in Altan Cemetery with full Navy military honors.
