

She was born on November 23, 1948, in Los Angeles, California. Raised in Kansas City, Missouri,
Vicky graduated from North Kansas City High School and then had a successful career at Zee Medical where she dedicated over 30 years. Vicky had a giving soul and volunteered through many causes and organizations. Some of these included House of Pearls, Carolina Raptor Center, and a large contributor to content and research for the Find a Grave website, where she would spend hours investigating genealogy at the local libraries, where she was affectionately called the "Bulldog". Vicky was also a proud Master Gardener as well. In addition, Vicky was a dedicated member of the Lee Park Church in Monroe, and her faith in God was unshakable.
Vicky is preceded in death by her mother, Lilly Thurman; and brother, Steve Binder. She is survived by her son, H. Michael Matlock; sister, Penny Sartain; and nieces, Julie Sartain and Tamah Shay Vansandt, as well as a litany of friends and colleagues.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina. A service to celebrate Vicky’s life will then be held following the visitation at 2:00 pm with Pastor Chris Justice officiating.
