

Paul D. Petris, age 91, of Charlotte, passed away on February 23, 2017 at the NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury, NC. Paul graduated from Savannah High School in 1943, received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and he served his country in the Army Air Force during WWII. Paul retired from Certain-Teed Saint Gobain Corp after 45 years, served as a deacon in First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, led many young men as Scout Troop Leader at Third Presbyterian Church in Charlotte where he lead his oldest son, Jeff Petris to earn his Eagle Scout Award in 1969.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Catherine Anne Petris-Clements and her two children, Catherine Petris Clements; William Charles Clements; and Janet James Petris’s three sons, Mark, William and David Lindsey. Paul was a loving husband of Patricia Anne Petris for the last twenty years of her life. He was also the loving husband of Janet James Petris for the last 27 years of her life. He is also preceded in death by his sons, Jeffery Paul Petris, James Steven Petris and Charles Eugene Petris.
A service to celebrate Paul's life will be 1:00pm Saturday, May 20, 2017 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send scholarship donations to Sigma Chi Foundation, Emory University at Foundation.Sigmachi.org.
