Shirley Wilson

Born April 4, 1929 in Caldwell County, North Carolina, she eventually made her way to Waxhaw, North Carolina and became a lifelong resident of Union County. Shirley had many enjoyments in her life including road trips, visiting with family and friends, and watching old westerns. She especially loved attending church at Center Grove Freewill Baptist Church when she was physically able.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Dexter C. Wilson; son, David D. Wilson; father, John W. Davenport; mother, Maggie N. Deal; and sister, Helen Davenport. She is survived by her son, Johnny R. Wilson; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elsie West.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Center Grove Freewill Baptist Church, located at 600 W North Main Street, Waxhaw, North Carolina. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held following the visitation at 12:00 pm with Pastor Donald Mitchelson presiding. Committal will immediately follow at Crown Memorial Park Cemetery, 9620 Rodney St, Pineville, NC.
