Born on December 10, 1940, in Lancaster, South Carolina, Sybil was the daughter of the late Evie and Lelia Walters. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norvard Ray “Nub” Deaton.
She is survived by her loving son, Olin Deaton Sr. and his wife Dana, who were a constant source of love and care. She leaves behind the joy of her life-her grandchildren: Olin Ray Jr. (Amanda), Dustin (Mackenzie) Faith Earp (Luke), and Weston (Katelynn); and her precious great-grandchildren Rylan, Summerlynn, Abigail, Axel, and Allie. She is also survived by her siblings; Paul Walters, Milburn Walters, and Brenda Robinson.
Known lovingly as Mawmaw Sybil, she treasured her family above all else. She had a quiet, steady faith and loved attending church, reading her books, and working crossword puzzles. Many remember her kind heart and years of service as a cafeteria lady. Sybil faced her journey with Parkinsons disease with strength and grace, trusting the Lord every step of the way.
In honor of her life, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mcewenmonroechapel.com for the Deaton family.
McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is honored to serve the family of Sybil Walters Deaton.
