Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Bonnie lived a life defined by kindness, compassion, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Bonnie began her professional life in banking, where she worked as a loan officer and later became a vice president. Though successful in her career, she felt a deeper calling to care for others. Following her heart, she returned to school at Troy University and fulfilled her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. She spent the remainder of her career in the Critical Care Unit at Baptist Hospital, where she touched countless lives through her skill, empathy, and calm presence.
Outside of her career, Bonnie had a deep and lifelong love for animals. She rescued and cared for many dogs over the years and generously volunteered at the animal shelter.
In 2016, Bonnie moved to Birmingham to be closer to her son and his family. Being “BeBe” to her beloved grandchildren was one of her greatest joys in life. She treasured every moment with them, and her love for them knew no bounds.
Bonnie is survived by her son, Ryan Welch (Gayle Douglas); her grandchildren, Emma and Nicholas Welch; her sisters, Cynthia Chesser, Dannie Spetter and Peggy Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy A. Nutt, Jr., and her parents, Charles Dan Wright and Mavis Patricia Wright.
A graveside memorial service celebrating Bonnie’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 23, at 2:00 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, located at 10505 Atlanta Highway in Montgomery, Alabama.
Bonnie will be remembered for her generous heart, quiet strength, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Vestavia, Alabama.
