

Cecil Wilson Colson Jr., age 73, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Cecil was born July 4, 1948.
Cecil's favorite title was Pawpaw, that was one of his greatest accomplishments. Cecil loved fishing and taught all of his children and grandchildren how to fish. He was the coach of both of his step sons youth baseball team, and loved playing tennis and pickleball. In the year of 1998 he was Captain of the year. In the year of 1999 he was the WynLakes Clay Court Classic Men's Doubles Champion. In the year of 2000 he was the 2000 Combo Doubles Winner, Tri District Championship.
He was very passionate about tennis and pickleball. He loved it so much he personally wrote out a detailed instruction manual called "The Art of Doubles" and gave it to all of his teammates.
He was an avid reader and had a handwritten list of every book he had ever read. His famous quote was, "I liked to read by the pound, the thicker the better". He also enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, they enjoyed watching movies together and kept a hand written log of them. They even went the extra mile and rated them from 1-5 together.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Louise Colson; children, Dianne Denny and husband Chris, Heather Colson; stepchildren, Kenny Jackson and wife Kathy, Kevin Jackson and wife Kristi; grandchildren, Colson Denny, Marilyn Denny, Cody Champion, Ashley Coats, Emily Coates, Kristen Robinson and husband Will, Hunter Jackson, Gray Jackson, Avery Jackson, Wells Jackson, Harrison Jackson; great grandchildren, Anthony Dougherty III, Sara Kate Robinson; sisters, Elizabeth Colson Davies, and Susan Colson Mills.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Anita Rushing Colson, and father, Cecil Wilson Colson Sr.

A visitation for Cecil will be held Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Frazer Church, 6000 Atlanta Hwy, Montgomery, AL 36117, followed by a funeral service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Following the funeral service there will be a committal service in Eutaw, Alabama at Mesopotamia starting at 3:00 pm.
