Dennis is survived by his wife, Mary Gibson of Montgomery, AL; his sister, Jeanne Gibson (Esther) of Pinole, CA; his son David Gibson (Theresa) of Irving, TX; his stepdaughters, Cindy Urscheler (Robert) of Flowery Branch, GA, Carol Balcome (Tucker) of Sugar Hill, GA and Sherry Giermanski of Montgomery, AL and his grandchildren, Forrest Phillips, Olivia and Cecilia Haag and Sara Grace Balcome.
Dennis was a retired Major in the U. S. Air Force and spent thirty years as a professor at Troy University-Montgomery. Dennis held degrees from University of Pennsylvania, George Washington University and a PhD from the University of Alabama. Dennis was a loving father and husband, an avid photographer and a vestry member of the Church of the Holy Comforter.
A funeral is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the Church of the Holy Comforter.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. I
n lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the American Heart Association or the Church of the Holy Comforter.
