

DRABLOS, Donald Sam, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Prior to retirement, Don served his country as a Pilot in the USAF for 20 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, having completed 127 combat flight missions in Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, Don completed a 20- year career with the State of Alabama as Director of Services. Don was born in Parshall, North Dakota and obtained a degree in Civil Engineering at the University of North Dakota in 1955 before being commissioned in the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. Don and his beloved late wife Dorothy were married for 52 years and have lived in Lynchburg, VA for the last two years. He is survived by his two sons, David Lance Drablos (Gaynor), Forest, VA, Douglas Trent Drablos (Shelly), Austin, TX, seven grandchildren : Joshua Lance Drablos(Josh, ENS, US Navy), Pensacola, FL, Katherine Gaynor Drablos, Lynchburg, VA, Jonathan Lewis Drablos(Jon- MIDN- US Navy), Annapolis, MD, Anne Marie Drablos, Lynchburg, VA, Samuel Dean Drablos(Sam), Benson Jacob Drablos(Ben), and Ella Anne Drablos(Ella), all of Austin, TX, and brother-in-law, Doctor Roy Newton Sublette (Jean), Montgomery, AL. Don was a longtime member of Frazier Methodist Church, Montgomery, AL. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Frazier Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers for the funeral, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
