

WATT, Donald Harrison, Sr., passed away Wednesday morning, October 8, 2014, at his Montgomery home surrounded by his family. He was ninety-three years old. Don was born on January 10, 1921 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Don served his country as an Air Force pilot for more than 32 years, surviving three wars, until he retired as an Air Force Colonel and Commander of the Air Force Logistics Management Center at Gunter Air Force Base in 1977. He then served as Manager of Arrowhead Country Club for 12 years before retiring again. Don was an avid golfer and family man, who provided his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with an abundance of love, trusted counsel and advice based on his tremendous life experiences, and great humor. Don is survived by his loving wife of seventy two years, Shirley Hannah Watt; his brother Robert Watt; his three children; Donald Watt Jr. and his wife Derene, Cameron Martindale-Stanton and her husband Elvin, and Alison Weston, his four grandchildren; Jamie France and her husband Ken, Alison Kinney and her husband Phillip, John Klise and Cameron Klise, and his three great grandchildren; Easton Strickler, Maggie Kinney, and Laura Stanton Strickler. He is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Ellen Watt, and his sister Doris Rush. A graveside service will be held this Friday, October 10, 2014, at 2pm at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask donations be made to the Woodland United Methodist Church Building Fund. Family and friends will assemble at the graveside.
