Eloise Hall Branch, 91, a lifelong resident of Montgomery, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, after a seven-year journey with Alzheimer's disease. She maintained her gentle spirit and sense of humor until her last days.
Eloise was the fifth child born to Percy and Velma Hall. The six Hall children were close throughout their lives and created a spirit of family and hospitality that will continue to reach generations to come. She loved school and remained close with her classmates throughout her life. After her graduation in May of 1951 from Montgomery County High School, she began work at an office supply company in Montgomery and shared a room in a boarding house with her close school friend. Her marriage to Harold Branch took place in the chapel on Maxwell AFB in November of 1951. She wore a blue skirt suit pinned with an orchid corsage, and Harold wore his dress uniform. They took a short honeymoon trip to New Orleans, and she got to experience many things she had never seen before. They moved to Mobile where their oldest son Alan was born; then Birmingham where their younger son Steve was born; and eventually settled back in Montgomery where their daughter Angela was born. In 1971 Eloise accepted a position in the photography studio of the Montgomery Fair department store. When Montgomery Fair was bought out by Gayfers department store she kept her position in the studio, eventually becoming the department manager. When the photo studio was closed in 1987, she transferred to the Petite Sportswear department where she worked through another store buyout by Dillard’s and remained until her retirement after 33 years of service. She loved all her years at the store and formed many long-lasting friendships.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband of 64 years, Harold and her older son, Alan. She will be laid to rest between her husband and son.
She is survived by her son Steve Branch, her daughter Angela Branch Drain, their spouses, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister-in-law Linda Hall, a slew of nieces and nephews, cousins, dear friends and others who knew and loved her. She leaves us with fond and cherished moments to remember, and memories to pass down.
Please join us to celebrate a life well lived on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home in Montgomery, Alabama. Visitation will be from 10am until 11:30am with service and burial to follow. Reverend Brandon Dasinger officiating.
