In addition to raising her family with her beloved husband, Donald, Mrs. Hale had a career that spanned over 45 years as an administrative assistant in law firms in Chicago and Atlanta; and then retired in 1994 from Southern Company Services in Atlanta, Georgia. Mrs. Hale’s impeccable attention to detail & organization ran throughout her life, and her children continue to marvel at this quality in her character. She loved the Lord Jesus first in her life, and was always confident of “where I’m going when I die”; her family & friends are comforted by this blessed assurance. Mrs. Hale loved her family and would welcome opportunities to share the latest happenings through her notes, cards and pictures. She always looked forward to a good challenge on the Scrabble board or morning “puzzle” in the paper. She never tired of receiving a note, card or letter from friends & family members across the country. She & Donald had many opportunities to travel worldwide, but her favorite spot was Hawaii where they frequented on trips with her sisters & their spouses building memories for a lifetime. As she settled in to life in Montgomery over more recent years, she built lasting friendships with neighbors, church friends & the local businesses she frequented. When she entered a room, Ethel Hale had a smile that would brighten the room and let those around her know that they were special in her eyes.
Honoring her life & sharing in the joy she brought, a memorial service will be held at St. James United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Hale supported the following organizations: Down Syndrome of Louisville, KY; American Cancer Society; American Heart Assn.
