

Diane was born in Brunswick, Georgia, to James and Marguerite Ratcliffe on January 30th, 1947. Diane later moved to Montgomery, Alabama and Pike Road, Alabama, where she has been a resident for the past 50 years.
Diane led a life full of love and kindness. She was a devoted member to Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Montgomery, Alabama. One of the biggest passions in Diane's life was education. She received a Bachelor's degree in Education at Georgia Southern University and later on pursued her Master's degree in Education at Auburn University in Montgomery, Alabama. With all of her gained knowledge, Diane taught first grade in Warner Robins, Georgia, for three years; sixth grade for 26 years in Montgomery, and tutored students in Montgomery, Alabama, for another 10 years.
Diane was known for her humble soul, eagerness to help others, and her gentle disposition in life. She loved working in her garden, reading on her Kindle, and donating to multiple charities including the Montgomery Humane Society.
Frances Diane Herndon loved and cherished her family deeply. She is survived by her husband of over 55 years, Danny Roger Herndon Sr.; son, Danny R. Herndon Jr.; daughter, Angela D. Herndon; and multiple nieces and nephews. Diane is predeceased by her father, James F. Ratcliffe; mother, Marguerite Evans Ratcliffe; and sister, Priscilla R. Daughtry.
In lieu of flowers, the Herndon family asks that donations be made to the Montgomery Humane Society or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
A mass for Mrs. Frances Diane Herndon will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 8570 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, Alabama, 36117, on April 5th, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
