Grant Hobdy Haygood

HAYGOOD, GRANT HOBDY, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away after an almost four-year battle with cancer on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Baptist Hospital South, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Auburn, Alabama, on July 4, 1961. He attended Auburn City Schools and graduated from Auburn University in 1982. His career was centered around public and corporate accounting and financial consulting. He was a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner with Yvonne Messer of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. He was a member of the Episcopal Church and attended Christchurch XP in Montgomery.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Melanie Nelson Haygood, his son Brian James Haygood, and his daughter-in-law Anslee Allen Haygood. He is also survived by his parents, James K. Haygood, Jr., and Sue Hinton Haygood; his brother Russell Kern Haygood; his sister Susan Haygood McCurry (Patrick); his nephews Charlie, Jamie, and John McCurry; his mother-in-law Martha Broadway; his two brothers-in-law, Jonathan Nelson and Donovan Nelson; as well as a host of friends and clients.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5 at 4:00 pm at Christchurch XP, 8800 Vaughn Road in Montgomery. Visitation will be held at the church following the memorial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or another charity.
