
James Olin Warmack, 87, of Montgomery, AL, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 22, 2011. Olin was born in the Hollingsworth community on July 19, 1923, and grew up in Piedmont (Calhoun County). He was a minister of the gospel of Christ and served for churches of Christ in Alabama and Georgia for more than 50 years. He was an alumnus of the University of Alabama, Freed Hardman College (University) and Southern Christian (Amridge University), earning both B.A. and M.A. degrees. He was a decorated veteran of World War II, serving in the European conflict. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Giddens Warmack of Montgomery; two daughters, Wanda Warmack and Cindy Spangler; son-in-law, Larry Spangler all of Montgomery; one sister, Myra Alligene Gammon of Union City, Ga.; a host of beloved cousins, nieces and nephews; and a special “son” Dave Sugg. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. & Josephine Warmack and a brother, William Grayson Warmack.
Visitation will be held at Alabama Heritage on Monday, April 25 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at University Church of Christ, 5315 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36109 on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service and burial at 4:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Munford, AL. Honorary pallbearers are George Herring, Tommy Williams, Pierce Flatt, Randall Bailey, Bob Burns, Guy Brown, Leroy Warmack, and the 6:30 Friday morning men’s Bible study at University church.
