It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jennifer (Jenny) Gilmore French, who departed this life on February 3, 2026 in Montgomery, Alabama. We have the assured hope of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that she is now in his presence.
Born on August 13, 1975, Jenny lived a life filled with love, kindness, generosity, compassion and faith. If you knew Jenny, you knew her caring heart, infectious laugh, and quick wit. Her outgoing personality was a force of nature. She had the ability to enter a room of strangers and make fast friends.
As a child Jenny would often state she wanted to be a nurse, marry a doctor and have five children. She would wind up one child short of the goal.
Jenny was a devoted wife to her husband Stan French, and a proud loving mother to her four children, Lauren, Hayley, Morgan and Luke. Her family was the center of her world, and she found her greatest joy spending time with them-especially cheering on her children as they played sports, travelled and created lasting memories together.
Jenny was born in Centralia, Illinois to Andrew Gilmore and Nancy Jo Hoffmann. Her early years were spent in Illinois and Indiana. In 1985, she moved to Birmingham, where she would grow southern roots and form lifelong friendships which would flourish in the Alabama humidity. She attended Briarwood Christian School, Auburn University, and UAB. At UAB she would obtain a nursing degree. She worked at UAB for several years before becoming a full-time homemaker. When the children grew older, she became the school nurse at Trinity Presbyterian School. She loved working with the students and being close to her children. She had a servant's heart and had the ability to make people feel seen, comforted, and supported. She was always available for someone in need. That same spirit of care extended beyond her work and into every part of her life
Always up for adventure, she loved to travel. From exploring the historic streets of Rome, visiting the Pyramids of Giza, hang gliding in Rio, or swimming with great white sharks in South Africa, she lived life without fear. She would also always find peace and happiness at the beach.
She was actively involved in Community Bible Study and Bible Study Fellowship. She also served on several mission trips to Latin America. She attended and was active at Church of the Highlands. Her faith, kindness, and quiet strength were evident to all who knew her.
Her life was based on her faith in Christ Jesus. Throughout her battle with glioblastoma her faith never wavered. She was a good and faithful servant.
Jenny is survived by her husband Stan; her children, Lauren, Hayley, Morgan and Luke; stepmother, Joni Gilmore; brothers, Scott (Petra) Gilmore, Robert (Tina) Hoffmann and Evan (Megan) Gilmore; sisters, Tammy (Aaron) Welsh and Erykah Hoffman; as well as many other loved ones. She is preceded in death by her father, Andrew Gilmore; mother, Nancy Jo Hoffman; as well as her stepfather, Kenneth Hoffmann.
Jenny will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous heart, and the love she so freely gave. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, devotion, and love that will continue to live on through her family and all whose lives she touched.
A service to celebrate Jenny’s life will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Church of the Highlands located at 4255 Taylor Road, Montgomery, AL 36116 beginning at 11:00 am with a visitation beginning one hour earlier at 10:00 am.
