Justin Keith McAlister

Justin Keith McAlister, (57) born on November 13, 1953 passed from this life on December 4, 2010 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Keith was born in Anniston, raised in Piedmont, which are both located in northeast Alabama. He moved to Montgomery in 1981 and resided there until he and his wife along with their beloved chocolate Labrador Ginger moved to rural Prattville in 2006. Keith loved spending time with his family, riding his tractor; working on challenging home projects and servicing his clients for over 20 plus years in his financial planning services business which he had planned to retire from at the end of this month due to his declining health. He was one of Dave Ramsey’s first ELPs of investments in the Central AL region and co-taught with his friend Ken Copeland 43 Financial Peace University sessions held at Vaughn Park Church over a 10 year period beginning the summer of 2000. Keith is survived by his parents Damon & Martha McAlister, Prattville, AL; his sister, Kayron (Jeff) Berry of Northport, AL; his wife, Cheryl Ann Slauson McAlister; his sons: Justin McAlister of Murfreesboro, TN, Jared McAlister of Nashville, TN, Bret (Crystal) Paulk of Mobile, AL and Jason Paulk of Montgomery, AL,; his father-in-law, Ben Slauson, Montgomery, AL; his brothers-in-law, Milton (Linda) Slauson & Tim (Debbie) Slauson all of Wetumpka, AL; Gary (Glenda) Slauson and Mark Slauson of Montgomery, AL; his nephews and nieces: Kory (Carolyn) Berry, Hannah-Claire Berry & Mattie Berry, Shannon Hatfield, Karyn (Jay) Murphree, Ben H. (Wendy) Slauson, Lisa Hudson, Amy (Todd) Newsom, Crystal (Cody) Worthington, Beth (David) Schreck, Molly Slauson, Kerra Slauson, Katie Slauson & Arrie Slauson; his aunts and uncles: Judy (Bill) Cook and George “Arlen” (Betty) Wallace, Evelyn McAlister; his 1st cousins: Tim Davis, Pamela Green, Anita Holton, Vonda McLain, Jennifer Pace, Alan Wallace and Jill Bryan. Funeral services will be held in the main auditorium of Vaughn Park Church of Christ on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Keith’s uncle Dr. William (Bill) Cook, friend Ken Copeland and minister Brad Sullivan. Visitation with the family will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, December 6, 2010 from 5 – 7 p.m. Pallbearers will be the elders of Vaughn Park Church. Honorary pallbearers will be the retired elders of Vaughn Park Church; long-time friends and colleagues: David (Twila) Bedgood, Bob (Julie) Clark, Eduardo (Natalia) Diaz, Florence Eddy, Brenda (Joe) Haley, Dale (Deb) Henderson, LAMPO Group in Nashville, Ed (Nelda) Little, Al (Faye) McLellan, Boyd (Melissa) Pate, Butch (Brenda) Morrison, Jeff (Tina) Webster, and Ying "Springna" Zhao.
