

Born December 29,1944 in Columbia, Mississippi and passed away on February 1, 2026, at the age of 81 after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was a resident of Montgomery Alabama. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Pierce Reagan, 2 daughters, Jana (Phillip) Lankford and Vicki( Eddie) Olszewski of Montgomery. Also surviving him are his cherished grandchildren, Peyton and Pierce Lankford and McKenzie Parker; and his sister Mary Lee Stockman of Mobile and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Harvey and Estelle Reagan, and brothers Glen and Allen Reagan.
Lester was a 1963 graduate of West Marion High School, in Foxworth Mississippi, where he served as Class President his senior year. He then attended Pearl River Junior College where he met his future wife Betty Pierce. He then went to the University of Southern Mississippi where he earned a degree in Mathematics in 1967.
Lester began his career at Eglin AFB in Fort Walton Beach Florida in 1967 as a mathematician. Upon earning his Master’s degree from the University of Florida in 1973 in Computer Science, he moved to Montgomery Al to begin his career at Gunter AFB. Lester was a cherished member of the Gunter Air Force Base community, dedicating 45 years of service within the Business Enterprise Systems Directorate. In this role, he steered the financial and logistical systems essential to global Air Force operations. His distinguished career culminated in his role as the Senior Acquisition Advisor for the directorate, where he provided advice for 120+programs in three states, ensuring seamless support to over 3.3 million users. He traveled extensively during his career and was at the Pentagon in Washington DC on September 11, 2001. Lester’s tenure at Gunter Air Force Base was defined by his easy-going personality, excellence and integrity. He was well respected by everyone he encountered and left a positive, lasting impact on countless lives.
He taught Sunday School for over 30 years with the last 17 years as the leader of the Reagan Bible Fellowship class at First Baptist Church in Montgomery.
Lester was a man of deep faith, steadfast character, quiet strength and lived a life rooted in his devotion to his faith and family. He led by example teaching values of love and integrity. He was a source of comfort and guidance to friends and family, always listening and helping.
Services will be Sunday, February 8, 2026. Visitation will start at 1:30 PM followed by the Celebration of Life Service at 2:30 PM. It will be held at First Baptist Church, 305 South Perry Street, Montgomery Al. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Bethea.
Memorials may be made in Lester’s memory to the First Baptist Church Caring Center or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis organization.
