Patricia Ann Petrey

Patricia Ann was born on November 19th, 1960, in Selma, Alabama, to her loving parents, Jerl and Sara Tatum. After several stops along the way, Patty and her family moved to Montgomery in 1969, where she went on to graduate from Sidney Lanier High School and John Patterson Technical College. Patty later became a licensed independent insurance agent, operating a family-owned office in Montgomery.

In 1987, she married John Petrey, and they welcomed baby Caroline Tatum in 1993. Patty was a devoted wife and nurturing mother and was deeply cherished by her family. She was also an avid gardener, growing many fruits, vegetables, and flowers in her backyard. She enjoyed the fruits of her labor by canning and sharing her vegetables with family and friends, and in recent years, she loved to display and share the beautiful flowers from her garden. Almost every day, Patty would wake up early to see the sunrise from her patio, one of her favorite places. Patty had a kind and tender heart. She found the good in everyone she met, and she thought that every dog or cat she saw should come home to live with her.

Patty will be celebrated and dearly missed by all who knew her.

Patricia Ann Petrey is survived by her devoted husband, John L. Petrey; daughter, Caroline Tatum Petrey; sisters, Pam Hall (Ronnie) and Lynn Cantrell (Danny); as well as a multitude of cherished nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father, Jerl Dean Tatum; mother, Sara Lou Tatum; and one brother, Michael Keith Tatum.

A visitation for Patricia will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home & Cemetery, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, Alabama 36117. Following the visitation will be a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM.
