

He was preceded in death by his parents Jennings and Edith Marie Cosgrove Byers, granddaughter Collier Ann Byers, brother Bert Thomas Byers, sisters Sherry Lynn Bell and Shirley Byers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Peggy Viola Mae Byers, son Andrew Michael Byers, daughters Janet (Michael) Brook, Deborah Lynn Byers, grandchildren Jade (Matthew Kyle) Brook, Heath Golden, Erin Brook. Great-grandchildren Tyler Brook and Hailey Brook, his grand-dogs Bo Bo and Scooby.
He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Sciences, graduating Cum Laude.
He served his country for 24 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He received the Meritorious Service Medal and a Bronze Star Medal. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked in Civil Service for 13 years at the Air Force Data Center.
He was a longtime, faithful Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Eastmont Baptist Church. He also founded and organized Carpenters for Christ. He was an avid fisherman who loved his angel fish, garden, and roses.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 7th, at 12 p.m. at Eastmont Baptist Church.
Minister Art Long will officiate the Celebration of Life Service to be held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
