

Shirley Ann Donohue, a cherished and beloved member of the Montgomery, Alabama community, passed away on November 12, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on July 13, 1943, in Pensacola, Florida, Shirley led a life marked by faithfulness, kind-heartedness, and compassion.
In her early career, Shirley worked as an Admin Assistant before dedicating herself to her family. She first married David Damrosch in Pensacola, Florida, with whom she had two children, Robin Burkett and Matthew Damrosch. Later, she reunited with her high school sweetheart, Peter Donohue, and together they blended their families, welcoming Robert Donohue and Kathy Donohue into their lives. Peter's service in the Air Force brought them to Montgomery, Alabama, where they built a life filled with love and devotion.
Shirley was known for her outgoing and fun-loving nature, often uplifting those around her. Her love for decorating was evident as she adorned her home for every holiday, filling her garage with decorations. Her elegance and attention to detail were reflected in her meticulously coordinated outfits and matching jewelry.
Deeply involved in her community, Shirley and Peter were devout Catholics who served at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Shirley's selflessness extended to helping others through recovery programs, celebrating 45 years of sobriety. Her charitable spirit and compassion were shared with Peter, who assisted others through hospice care after retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Air Force.
Shirley maintained lifelong connections, including with her kindergarten classmates, demonstrating her devotion to the people she loved. Her legacy as a generous, charitable, and selfless individual will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Shirley is preceded in death by her loving husband, Peter Edwin Donohue; and her mother, Isabel Young. Shirley is survived by her children, Robin Burkett (Michael), Matthew Damrosch (Lisa), Robert Donohue (Michelle), and Kathy Donohue; and her sisters, Toni Eicher and Brenda Young.
Shirley's uplifting presence and compassionate heart will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Visitation in honor of Shirley will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 8570 Vaughn Rd., Montgomery, AL 36117 with a Memorial Service Mass immediately following.
