Herbert Joseph Crappell Sr., age 80, a life long resident of Morgan City, Louisiana passed away unexpectedly due to a boating accident on February 13, 2022. Herbert was born on February 4, 1942 to the late Preston and Narcess Fabre Crappell in Morgan City, LA.
Herbert was described as the youngest 80 year old around because of his playful nature and great sense of humor. He always had a huge smile on his face and a joke or funny ‘insult’ coming out of his mouth. He loved living on the bayou, fishing, and playing golf, but his love for these things paled in comparison to the love that he had for his family. He was an outstanding husband and caregiver and took great responsibility and pride in caring for everyone around him.
He believed in hard work and stayed busy by building something or working on some sort of project everyday. He was a very talented carpenter that had a successful contracting business until he retired.
Herbert will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 25 years, Jerry Lynn Walden Crappell, six children: Gretchen Crappell Roop and husband Bill, Herbert Crappell Jr. and wife Wendy, daughter in law, Leslie Corrales Melancon and husband Jonathan, James C. Davis, Thomas E. Davis, Gerald L. Davis and wife Paula, 11 grand children and 11 great grand children. His surviving siblings are Lawrence Crappell and wife Janie, Wade Crappell and wife Brenda, Larry Crappell and wife Louanne and sister, Ruby Crappell.
He has been reunitied in eternity with his first love and mother of his children, Sandra Pennison Crappell, sons, Terry Crappell and John A. Davis, brothers, Junius and Roland Crappell and sister, Iris Crappell Fry.
A celebration of his incredible life will be held for family and friends on February, 19, 2022 at 2:00pm at 1269 East Stephensville Road, Morgan City, LA.
