

She was a deeply devoted Christian member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church since arriving in Morgan City in 1940. She was a very loving mother who enjoyed spending time at home and cooking for her family. She was especially fond of cooking her Christmas Eve gumbo dinners. She was also known as Granny to the many children that she cared for, for almost a 40 year period. Many have grown to be fine men and women of the community.
Margaret is survived by her two children John Floyd and his wife Margie Graves Gaspard, and Merinda Gaspard Leger and her husband Michael D.; and a daughter-in-law Sandra Leedom Gaspard of Dry Creek, LA. She is also survived by her six grandchildren Brentt Gaspard, Keith Gaspard, Michael C. Leger, Marnie Gaspard Tidmore, Heath Gaspard and John Lucas Gaspard; and her ten great-grandchildren Kelleigh Gaspard, Colt Gaspard, Destinie Scully, Hunter Gaspard, Dominic Leger, Remy Leger, Lanee Tidmore, Tanner Tidmore, Lucien Gaspard, and Thane Gaspard. She is also survived by one sister Marie Pauline Simon.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Dominic Melvin Gaspard, Sr.; her sons Dominic Melvin Gaspard, Jr.; and Farrell James Gaspard; her parents Claude Harrington and Alphonsine Touchet; four brothers; and three sisters.
A time of remembrance and reflection will be observed Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Hargrave Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm; with a Rosary being said at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 11:00 am.
Margaret will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
