May Anne Jones Thurman

MORGAN CITY - A Memorial Service will be conducted for May Anne Jones Thurman, age 53, at 1:00 P.M on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Hargrave Funeral Home. Family and friends of May will be reading eulogies and speaking about her life. Interment will be held privately at a later date.

The funeral home will open at 10:00 A.M on Saturday until the service time.

A native and resident of Morgan City, May lost her battle but won her war to cancer on October 3, 2016 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Pearland, TX.

Born on August 5, 1963 to the late Troy Jones and Barbara Carpenter Jones, May was one of three children. May enjoyed fishing and could often be found with a line in the water. She was lucky enough to always have a bite and would catch every type of fish the bayous had to offer. May also enjoyed reading. She was an avid reader who would go through a new book in just a few days. Her family fondly remembers when she would walk to the Berwick Library just to get a new book. In May latter years she devoted majority of her time to her grandchildren, reminding her children daily that her battle with cancer was for them. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother- family was always the most important thing to May. She loved spending time with family and friends and will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her partner of fifteen years, Mert Thompson; children, Waylon Store, Billy Store and wife Sherry, Penny Store, June Thurman, and Crystal Sweeting-Bradley and husband Jarvis; step-son, Shawn Thompson, Step-children "The Turner's"; grandchildren; Tia'easha, Jerryah, Tiembra, Bradley, Jerry, Kenneth, Gabby, Kobe and Ka'zariene; mother, Barbara Carpenter Jones; and sisters, Risa Jones and Carol Clifford.

She is preceded in death by her father, Troy Jones; aunts, Pamela and Debbie; and uncle, Howard.
