Vernon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who absolutely adored his grandbabies and great-grandbabies. A talented fisherman and welder, he used his skills to provide for his family and to sneak off to the bayous whenever he could—often enjoying many fine fishing adventures with his son, Vernon Jr., along those winding waterways. Musically gifted, Vernon could pick up a guitar and sing with ease, even playing in a church band in his younger years. Known as a bit of a lovable clown who never met a stranger, he could talk to anyone, everyone, and sometimes even himself—especially if God was listening. In his later years, his love for conversation turned deeply spiritual, and he spent many meaningful hours in prayer, often shared with his daughter, Judy.
Those left to cherish Vernon's wonderful memory are his wife, Deborah Businelle Gaspard; two children, Vernon P. Gaspard Jr and Judy Paredes and her husband, Juan Carlos; six grandchildren, Skyla, Jasmine, Kayla, Angel, Zoe, and Kylee and ten great grandchildren, Elianna, Elijah, Joshua, Kol, Olivia, Sebastian, Ronald III, Khalil, Kyrie, and Malai. He is also survived by his sister, Laura Dupre and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents, Prosser and Olive Gaspard; and three brothers, Randy, Lonnie and Ernest Gaspard.
