Bill was very well traveled, having seen, visited and even lived in places few have had the chance to think about seeing. He retired after many dedicated years as an international boat captain, a job that he both loved and did exceptionally well at. Inquisitive, Bill excelled at ANYTHING he wanted to try his hand at. From tinkering with electronics like handheld radios, to learning how to navigate purely by the night sky, Bill could learn it and excel at it. This can also be seen by his beautiful carpentry. He made gorgeous woodworks and his work can be seen within his own beloved home where he built the pantry and back porch. Though he was exceptionally strong (one grandchild referred to him as King Kong), Bill was a steady and calm individual who just instinctively knew how to speak to others. This made him a great leader and role model. Naturally, this demeanor made Bill widely respected by his family, his friends and his coworkers. Though Bill will be forever missed, his legacy of living each day in a major way, of learning many skills, and being a steadfast person will forever live on in the hearts of others.
To left to cherish Bill’s remarkable memory are his wife, Linda Killion; his children, Anna Dunn and her husband, William, Mary Anderman and her husband, George, Arné Newton Brewer, Rufflin "Man" Donham, Lisa Ortega, and Jeff Rice; his grandchildren, Tatum, Kyleigh, Devin, Taylor, Carlyn, Sean, Taylor, Rufflin Jr., Shannon, Morgan, Helena, Hannah, Mollee, Rufflin Jr., Melanie, and Natalie, Beau, Amanda, and Ashley; and his great grandchildren, Kaniyah, Dawson, Joacklyn, Brooklyn, Kingston, Khaza, Silas, Ava, Hazel, Skye, Corbyn, Bella, and Rhett.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial visitation will be held for Bill on Thursday, December 23, 2021 from 5pm to 8pm at Hargrave Funeral Home with a celebration of life taking place at 7pm.
