

Bernice Veronica (Buway) Mansfield was born on January 30, 1928 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 12, 2021. She passed away peacefully at home with her daughters. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert Mansfield.
Bernice leaves behind four children, Carol Johnson, Robert Mansfield, Suzanne Fox-Baker, and Patricia Hanes. As well as, two step-children, Connie Fairchild, and Ronald Mansfield. In addition, she leaves 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a special German exchange student granddaughter, Inga Neumann, and her family. She also leaves behind 2 sisters, Mrs. Barbara Traxinger, and Mrs. Joann Verberg, both of Grand Rapids. Along with a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Bernice spent many years working at The Norge in the 1950’s. During the 60’s and 70’s she worked at K-Mart in the shoe department. She then went on to work at Sheldon’s Factory here in Muskegon. The 80’s and 90’s were spent at Plumb’s grocery store in the deli. She worked for one year, 2003, as the interpreter for a Polish Student at Fruitport Elementary School, which she loved. Bernice was an avid bowler, who also enjoyed camping and fishing on Campbell Lake in Hesperia back in the day. She loved shopping, yard sales, and bingo. Her favorite passion was eating elephant ears anywhere she could find them. The casinos were also the best of fun for her. She was always all about the grandkids and the great grandkids. She loved the little ones and they loved her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 20th, 2021 at 11:00am at Ever Rest Funeral home and Chapel, 1783 E. Keating Ave. Muskegon, MI 49442. There will be a Luncheon following the service at 12:00pm at First Wesleyan Church of Muskegon, 1040 E. Forest Ave. Muskegon, MI 49442.
