

Carl Edward Houseman, age 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024, in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan, to Non Houseman and Genavie (Borgeintean) Houseman. Carl proudly served in the Navy and married his sweetheart Mary Houseman on November 17, 1949. They enjoyed 75 beautiful years together and raised two daughters, creating cherished memories throughout their lives.
Carl was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who had a passion for gardening. He was actively involved in his community, particularly at the Pulaski Lodge where he was known for organizing breakfasts. He was employed at the Shaw-Walker factory in downtown Muskegon. Carl was a hardworking and kind-hearted man who had a knack for fixing things around the house.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Mary Houseman; daughters: Sandy (John Szmadzinski) Riegler-Woods and Shelly (Bert Smith) Houseman; grandchildren: Carly, Abbey, Lauren, Corri, and Karl; great-grandchildren: Ellery, Tyler, Celia, James, Elizabeth, Brandon, Zach, Madilyn, and Rowan; and brother, John Houseman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Non and Genavie Houseman; brothers: Ted and Harold; and sister, Harriet.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life with military honors will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 1-3pm at The Polish Union, 1890 Henry Street, Muskegon, Michigan 49441 to honor Carl's remarkable life and service.
