

Ethel Joyce Lund, age 81, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. She was born in Muskegon Heights on March 6, 1933 to parents Loren and Flossie (Pierce) Maycroft. In October 23, 1953, Joyce, as she preferred to be called, married Albert H. Lund, who preceded her in death. Joyce retired from Banner Linen Service after several years. She was a member at the Woman’s Auxiliary at the Salvation Army, helped cook meals at the Lakeside Eagles, and was a member at the West Michigan Street Rod Association. In her younger years she raced dirt track stock cars in Powder Puff racing events. She loved the Detroit Tigers, putting together puzzles, and listening to country music, especially her favorite artist, Ernest Tubb. More than anything, Joyce loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her son, Brian (Christine) Lund; step-children: John (Darcy) Stayer, Becki (Douglas) Havermans; grandchildren: Ange (Jason) Jackson, Amanda (Chris) Follett, Brian (Ashley) Lund, Jr; companion and lifelong partner, Roy Strayer; step-grandchildren: John E. Hart, Heather (Stephen) Portenga, Ryan Hart, Tyler Strayer, Jennifer Havermans; 14 great grandchildren; brother-in-law Charles E. (Shirley) Lund of Otsego, MI siblings: Robert (Harriet) Maycroft, Larry (Nancy) Maycroft, Viola Stidham, Lois DeVries, Walter (Joan) Maycroft, Myrna (Bill) Noggle, Merlin (Vicky) Maycroft; former daughter-in-law, Renee Gillard; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents, husband, Albert H. Lund; siblings: Loren II, Herman, Clayton, Darwin, June, Sally, Alberta. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Black Creek Bible Church (2651 Heights Ravenna Road, Muskegon). The family will receive visitors on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 6:00pm until 8:00am at Ever Rest Funeral Home & Chapel (1783 E. Keating Ave., Muskegon) and again on Monday, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00am, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Salvation Army, American Cancer Society, or to the family to help with funeral expenses.
