
Jerry was born in Waynesburg, Kentucky to Hobart and Flossie Singleton on December 5, 1936. Jerry lost his mother at the tender age of 5 years, and his father one year later; he was then raised by, uncles, and sisters in Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and eventually settling in Muskegon, Michigan where he met Dorothy, the love of his life, when she moved to Muskegon in 1955. They were married six months later on July 7th of that year. Jerry worked at various jobs to provide for his family, and retired from Sealed Power in Muskegon. Jerry was instilled with strong sense of honesty by two of his uncles at a young age, and he lived out that virtue throughout his life. He also enjoyed music and was a musician in a band for many years of his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy, of nearly 61 years, his parents, his 4 sisters, nephew Stevie, and grandson Todd.
He will be deeply missed by his surviving children Elizabeth (William) Jarman, Douglas (Brenda) Singleton, Christopher Singleton, and Brenda (Roger) Doctor: 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren and counting.
A memorial service for Jerry will be held at 1:00 on August 19, 2016 at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel; 1783 E. Keating Ave in Muskegon followed by an Interment for both Dorothy and Jerry at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be William Jarman. Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00, prior to the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Red Cross of Muskegon, Heartland Health Care Center of Whitehall, or Harbor Hospice.
