Harry Charles Connell

Harry C. Connell, age 86, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014. Harry was born in Muskegon on February 29, 1928 to parents Charles and Nelly (Miller) Connell. He married Arlene on December 30, 1950. After retiring from Michigan Consolidated Gas on April 1, 1990, Harry and Arlene moved to Auburndale, Florida where they spent 12 years before moving back to Michigan. Together they enjoyed travelling to many places. Harry also enjoyed woodworking, feeding the birds, tending to his flowers and tomato gardens, baking bread and canning pickles. Harry was a long time member at Immanuel Lutheran Church as well as a member of several other organizations including the Viking Linné Lodge, Finnish American Society, and he was a Golden Eagle #668. Harry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Arlene Connell; son, Dale (Deborah) Connell; grandchildren: Jennifer (Evan) Pennella, Brian (Angie Redfern) Revord, Joshua (Elyssa) Connell, Lindsey Connell, Scott (Dawn) Humy, Sonya (Cory Thompson) Humy; eight great grandchildren; sisters: Elaine Szaflarski, Gerrie (Ralph) Pierson, Connie Krehn, Pat (Sam) Long. He was preceded in death by both parents and daughter, Karen Connell. A funeral service will take place at 12 noon on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church (930 Creston St., Muskegon) officiated by Pastor Julie Winklepleck. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00am. Memorial contributions may be given to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in Harry’s name.
