I didn't  know him all that well, but when he was around he had a good sense of humor and a damn good worker!

One of my first and favorite memories of Jack happened over 40 years ago. I was in elementary school when Noreen and Jack started dating. He decided that it was not right that his girlfriend's little sister had never had a coney dog. He set up a "date" for him and I to go down near Detroit somewhere to get a real Coney dog. After getting down there I ate one, but I hated it. I thought it was so sweet and special that I tried to hide it and lied and told him I liked it. Today, I love them (and the meatloaf and mustard sandwiches Jack introduced me to).  Jack, I don't think I ever told you the truth. Now you know, the rest of the story. Jack was a great man to many, and an amazing stepfather to me. His charisma was immense, always with a smile and a joke, able to brighten a room with his humor and energy. He loved movies and film, sharing his love with our family, such that it became part of the fabric of our family. You would frequently find him watching old monster movies Saturdays on Svengoolie, Gunsmoke, or other black and white films. I'll remember him quoting movie lines with the family, such that it was almost expected to talk only in movie quotes. In the past week, I've realized Jack is probably why I started college studying film. He is one of the funniest guys I've ever known, much like the rest of the Samples family, which is full of loveable characters. I'm proud to say I've known him and loved him, and lucky enough to have him in my life. He will be missed dearly.

Jack will certainly be missed, both as a friend and as a community board member!  He was fun to be with and had a great sense of humor!

Worked with Jack at the beginning of my career at Giffels.  He was a great guy too work with always willing too help forward 30 plus years and worked with him on the Corvette project  my prayers and condolences to the family.  

I am shocked and saddened by the passing of my former neighbor, good friend, and golfing buddy.  Jack and I shared many a good time. We attended U of M games, as well as golfed together for many years. I always enjoyed Jacks' wit and sense of humor. Jack was always so proud of the accomplishments of his wife and children. He will be greatly missed and thought of often. My heartfelt condolences to his wife Shane and his children. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you at this most difficult time. God Bless you.

Jack and I worked and had lots of fun together in Caseville MI ..his parents had a cottage there and I was a local whose cousins owned the Bay Window Restaurant. My heart is broken for his family…just a great man and friend to many. So glad we could be Facebook friends and keep up on each other. We had such great memories of the beach and Bay Window . I pray he’s “dancin in heaven “ hugs and ❤️ to the family 

Kerri and I give deepest sympathies to the Samples family as well as the many people Jack’s life touched in a multitude of ways. When Jack and I were able to touch base, we would reminisce about the one NFL playoff season that we spent in Alabama for the construction of a rail car facility. We barely left the living room that weekend while football was on all day and night. At work, Jack was “always” right, or he would make you “realize” that he was right…….even when it came to campaigning for the classic Hammer Horror films and how great Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing were as actors! Jack was, and STILL is, a true influence on my yearly Halloween yard decorations, and I still remember how excited he was to get his first full-size skeleton and sit it in his front window for viewing. He will be missed and in our prayers.

Jack was a wonderful guy.  He and Shane volunteered their time to make such positive contributions to our community; serving on the HOA board, conducting water aerobics at the pool, assisting with neighborhood garage sales just to name a few.  Jack “pitched in” many times.  He loved is family!

Our deepest condolences Shane and family.  Jack was always a great colleague at work – mentoring others, coming up with unique ideas and always available for a thoughtful (or not so thoughtful😊) conversation.  I loved working with Jack and his happy attitude.  We seemed to click quickly at CKGP and months after we met, we figured out that we had both attended Churchill High School and I had a class with his sister.  It is a small world.

Jack managed to make it out to the Grand Haven cardboard sled competition. Such a shame he didn’t have a good view to watch children crash into bales of hay at high speeds. 

Pam and I want to offer our deepest sympathy to the family.  We will always remember him for his love of family and integrity.  His work ethic and ability to mentor others illustrated his importance and contribution to any team or project he was involved with.
He will be missed. 

My first engineering position at CKGP in 1996, I sat kitty corner to Jack. He was always kind with teaching us rookies the fundamentals of the job and the importance of his classic rock CD's. He will be missed. 



I had the pleasure of working with Jack at the Spring Hill Assembly Plant. He was a hard worker, but made the workplace a much more enjoyable experience. The world could use more people like Jack.

Shane and family, This is the happy Jack I will remember!  This was from a CKGP/PW retirement party at Camp Ticonderoga in Troy a few years ago.  My deepest condolences and best wishes.  DPT

I loved working with Jack. I remember the time Chris Jackson started using the table Jack rolled around the plant floor and wrote Chris Jackson on it, like he owned it. Jack decided to remove Chris and rename the table Jackson Samples. It was the little things he did and said that made me laugh. I wish I spent more time around him. 

Jack I enjoyed knowing you. You were a good man!! I enjoyed our m-w-f walks with Bob Melaik. We had many good conversations. I will miss you!

Jack was such a fun neighbor.  He was there to help when he was needed.  He kept his neighbor’s yards and lawn looking ship-shape. He was an active member of this community, and will be missed by many.

Jack was a great friend, wonderful neighbor & respected HOA board member.  Loved his irreverent humor & shared many laughs with him.  He’ll be sorely missed, but the world is a better place because of his time with us. Deepest sympathy to Shane and the family. 

Jack was a great guy and I am honored to be called a friend of his.  Gone too soon, never really had a chance to enjoy his retirement.  He will be missed.  Thoughts and prayers for the family.

Jack was a well respected and well liked fellow employee.   His knowledge, hard work ethic and great sense of humor was always admired and will be missed.  

I worked with Jack for about 5 years at the GM Spring Hill plant from about 2014-2019.  I loved his sarcastic wit and how he never suffered fools lightly.   He will be missed.  Condolences to the family.
