Jack Robert Sikkenga

Sikkenga, Mr. Jack Robert of Muskegon: Mr. Jack R. Sikkenga, age 81, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013. He was born in Muskegon, MI on September 1, 1931 to Louis and Effie (Zuidema) Sikkenga. He worked for C &O Railroad for 42 yrs. He married the former Darlene F. Wessels on May 12, 1979 and she survives him. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Muskegon Eagles 668, Lakeside Vets and the VFW 446. Jack loved to travel. He and Darlene enjoyed an annual fishing trip to Canada, as well as many trips around the United States; he was also a sports enthusiast. He especially liked watching the Detroit teams. He will be greatly missed. SURVIVORS: Wife, Darlene; sons Frederick (Reisa ) Sikkenga of Blue Lake Township, MI and Theadore (Anita) Sikkenga of North Muskegon, MI. Step-daughter in-law Sally Unterzuber ; grandchildren, Joshua (Abby Adams) Sikkenga, Rachel (James) Torrey, Lydia Hunt, Jacob (Tiffany Tennant)Sikkenga, Kerri (Chris) Tronche and Jeff (Kari Jo Whittenberg) Unterzuber and 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and furry friend Bear. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John, Harry, Percy, Clare, Louie, and Melvin; sisters, Genevieve, Theresa, and Gertrude. His first wife, Mary Lou Sohasky in 1991, and step son, Roger Unterzuber in 1999; A funeral service will be Thursday, June 27, 2013, 11:00 am at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel with Pastor Julie Winklepech officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6-8 PM at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel. Donations may be offered to the Alzheimer Association of Michigan.
