James Alvin Carlson

Jim was born April 15, 1951, the son of Harold and Wilma Carlson. He served his country proudly in the US Navy. He married Connie Bates in 2000 and together they enjoyed 23 wonderful years of marriage. Connie deemed him the best husband in the world. Jim worked for Sun Chemical and retired in 2010. He enjoyed fishing, and being out on the water with anyone that would join him. He took great joy and tremendous pride in his children. He enjoyed his family, celebrating holidays, spending time outside in his yard, and sweet treats. He was also a loyal, dedicated Detroit Lions Fan. Jim was a kind soul, and a person who would stop and have a conversation with anyone. He will be immensely missed.

Jim is survived by: his wife, Connie; children, Carriann (Christopher) Lane, James Alex (Christine) Carlson, Sarah Degroot, and Desirae Zacharias; grandchildren, Kayleigh, Mackenzie, Killian, Lauren, and Devin; great grand-daughter, Ella; sister, Joy (Mike) Ottensmeyer; and dog, Chloe.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation will take place and a graveside service with military honors will take place at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens 2188 Remembrance Drive Muskegon.
