Jeanette Svensson passed away Wednesday December 30, 2015 at her home in Whitehall. She was born to Fred and Winifred (Meinert) Ramthun on August 3, 1925. She married her high school sweetheart Charles Svensson in 1944 and they were married 70 years. She lived in the White Lake area where she brought up three daughters to be strong women.
Jeanette was active in the local resort industry. She completed a Tourist And Resort Institute program at MSU. She was the cook for the White Lake Villa in its heyday and later became an independent caterer. Jeanette was also co-owner of Windy Cove Campground. She was a past president of the Legion Auxiliary and the White Lake Area Women's club. She played a large role in organizing the former Christmas workshops at Lebanon Lutheran Church in Whitehall.
She enjoyed sailing with her husband Chuck on his many sailboats named "Hi Honey", road trips, all day picnics at Meinert Park, getting her hair done, receiving flowers from her husband and laughing with the card club gals. To quote a good friend "I never knew what fun was until I met Jeanette."
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Adrian and her husband Chuck, who passed on February 17, 2015. She is survived by her three daughters Cheryl Veihl (Richard deceased), Janet Grady (Jerry) and Deb Svensson (John Eridon), grand children Jim Veihl (Beth), Kristina (John) Rickert, Carla (Rob) Vonk, great grand children Debbie (Zebadiah) DeMaeyer, Jessica Rickert, Collin Vonk, Micah and Elijah Veihl, great-great grandchild, Scarlett and nephews and nieces JC, Kay, Karen and Chuck.
A special thank you goes to all family and friends who showed much support and friendship to Jeanette since her husband Chuck's passing. All of her caregivers brought something special to her bedside and the family will be forever grateful.
A celebration of life will be held in early summer at a time and location to be determined. Jeanette always said "Flowers are for the living, not the dead". Please consider donations to the Hospice of your choice.
