

Mr. Michael Thomas Zimmerman, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. He was born on September 8, 1945 to David K. and Patricia J. Zimmerman. Mike moved to Muskegon in 1965 after getting out of the U.S. Marine Corps and serving two tours in Vietnam. He married the love of his life, Gail Houghteling, in 1971. He was a father, a grandfather, a son, a brother, an uncle, and a good friend to many. He has held various jobs over the course of his life; his latest being part-time at the Cinema Carousel as the “Cool Ticket Taker Guy”. Mike was very active in the Vietnam Veterans, Marine Corps League, VFW, American Legion, Toys for Tots, and last but not least, the Scottville Clown Band. He was also an active member at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church. Michael was still active in the State of Michigan Volunteer Defense Force as a First Sergeant. He is survived by his only daughter, Michelle (Mike) Bourdon; his only granddaughter, Makayla Lynne Bourdon; brother, David (Jan) Zimmerman; sister, Margaret Zimmerman; many nieces and nephews; and all those who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by both parents, and his older brother Patrick. Mike was known by all and loved by many. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church (1200 Seminole Rd., Muskegon). Officiated by the Rite Rev. William Fleener. The family will receive visitors on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 6-8pm and again on Tuesday, beginning at 1pm until the time of service.
